#409 Elegant Expecting – Week 38 – Still going strong

We’re getting very close! “It could be any day now,” said my doctor in his usual, monotone voice during our weekly check-up this Wednesday. Why, I’ve even started texting my doula on a regular basis, something I certainly haven’t done up until now.

That said, I feel like there’s still so much to do. Life certainly doesn’t stop! As long as I’m mobile and not going into labor… I figured, why not make the most of the next few days?

These photos were taken late last week en route to the office. This is a pretty simple look but still sleek and fitting for work. Again, I’m rocking my Timi & Leslie bag (full feature here), which did wonders for transporting tons of my files and docs home (a working mommy needs to stay versatile, right?).

I’m also holding my go-to morning brew (a pregnancy staple: tall decaf cinnamon dolce latte w/no foam and no whip). Although lately I’ve been sneaking in more caffeine here and there for that extra boost of energy – a little bit certainly can’t hurt at this stage!

#382 Elegant Expecting – Week 33 (Shop your closet!)

Back when I was about 18 weeks pregnant, I had done a wholesale overhaul of my entire closet, clearing out piles of clothes in order to make my wardrobe “pregnancy-friendly.” Somehow, during the cleansing process, I had the mental wherewithal to keep this Michael Kors dress and boy, am I glad I did!

I bought this dress in Southampton during the summer of 2010. I remember it all vividly… my friends and I had cruised onto Main Street for a relaxing brunch at Sant Ambroeus. The dress, located just next door, had immediately caught my eye, and I instantly knew that I had to have it. In spite of the hefty price tag, I managed to justify the purchase by saying to myself, “well I’m on vacation!”

Fast forward three years later, and this dress has certainly served me well. (I even rocked it recently at my recent college reunion, when I was 29 weeks pregnant). See below.

I had first featured it as a staple professional piece here, more than a year ago. The stretchy soft fabric means that it can easily accommodate a growing belly, and still lend you a beautiful (albeit very different!) shape. I also like the fact that the dress clings quite closely to your body, particularly beneath the belly, making me look less bulky and well – just plain pregnant!

This is a perfect case of shopping your own closet while you're pregnant (not that I’m opposed to splurging on new maternity pieces). Though, as the age-old saying goes, if it ain’t broke, why fix it?

I'm digging the belted look these days (sitting right above your tummy), the brighter the better! Plus, it matches my fabulous Timi & Leslie Charlie bag!

Hubby and I stopped by Giggle in Soho to pick up some last minute stuff, such as a baby monitor!

To cool off from the summer heat, we dropped by the Crosby Hotel bar, which has a lovely little outdoor garden!

#379 Elegant Expecting – Week 32 (Office Opulence)

Clearly I’m a bit behind, as I’ve already hit my 33-week mark! (Only four more weeks before the baby is considered full term!).

As I'm getting bigger, I find myself gravitating more and more towards all things black. Go figure! It’s simpler and keeps the silhouette better streamlined.

That said, black on black can be a bit boring (not to mention too heavy for this weather). This is where jackets and other accessories come into play. In fact, for this preggy lady, a jacket is a must!! (Particularly for the office, though the grueling summer heat is making things a bit tricky for this burgeoning belly).

I love this orange jacket and really need to get more mileage out of it (such a great find at my neighborhood Pixie Market!). It’s a fun color that’s not too over-the-top, and really, who could resist the leopard-print lining? These days, I’m all about the variation of cuts and prints for my blazers, so something a bit more ornate like animal print is a welcomed addition in my book.

Oh, and how fabulous is my new, eco-friendlhy, Timi & Leslie Charlie bag? It’s actually meant to be an all-purpose diaper bag… strictly for “glammy mummies,” as I like to call them :)

However, it’s chic and sizable nature means that I can start wearing it now! Why wait? It’s a great day-bag, and soon I’ll be able to pack all of my Nukie-essentials in there too!!!
