Okay you guys… so it’s official – only one day left of 2015, and let’s face it, tomorrow will be pretty much a wash as we frantically sort out our New Year’s Eve Plans (lucky for me I didn’t really make any, seriously going to just wing it!). I’ll let you know how that goes…
In the meantime, I’ve actually endeavored to sum up this year. It’s an aspirational thing, really – something I’ve wanted to do every year since 2012, but here goes!
January 2015:
- Kick start the New Year at the Mondrian in Miami with my bestie from Brazil. What better way?
- Split my time btw NYC and Naples, Florida… kind loving the latter and not so much the former for weather reasons. Snowpocalypse anyone?
February 2015:
- Mega snowstorms in Boston (and would you believe that I actually had to fly into one for work?) Sheesh… the things mamma has to do to bring home the bacon. Though the snow can look awfully pretty, particularly at my alma mater.
- Celebrate hubby’s birthday, couples-only style, in Beacon.
March 2015:
- Launch City Baby Dining!!!
- NYC besties visit Naples… totally inspiring my Naples Weekender and My Gulfshore Series.
April 2015:
- Featured foodie blogger by Tabelog (see here), woot!! AND interviewed by New York on My Mind… a good month for press!
- Officially wrap-up our winter retreat in Florida, marked by an Easter Egg Hunt on Marco Island (tear)… and time to plan our little man’s entry into Preschool come September! Oh yeah, and it’s nice to back in the city and do our morning dinosaur playdates. #pinchme
May 2015:
- Family trip to St. Lucia!
- Mother’s day celebration… and some complex emotions brewing for sure.
- Host my second downtown preschool panel series for Bowery Babes
- Official summer kick-off with our Memorial Day BBQ (lots going on in May!)
June 2015:
- One of my many business hops to DC (just in time to celebrate Marriage Equality! What timing).
- Oh, and let’s not forget that June is Father’s day, plus my bestie from San Francisco was in town, so lots of excuses to gallivant around town... Cosme, Rose Bar, Baccarat Hotel, the works... (Saw an Act of God with bestie, so good!).
- Went to Virginia Beach for a mini reunion with college besties, fun and lovely to see everyone.
July 2015:
- Loads more work travel in July, busy busy busy – from DC (back again!) to Switzerland, to Shelter Island (okay the latter was for fun).
- Then there’s Fourth of July… we hosted a mega BBQ. A lot of work, but worth it! This also happened to mark the start of our Hamptons Summer, complete with an art-making excursion to the Parish Museum.
August 2015:
- My oh my! Our little man finally turns 2!!! Where did the time go?
- We celebrated this occasion by taking a week-long family holiday in Montauk (the best). Meanwhile, my insides are literally turning since that was the last weekend before my Nuke baby goes to school! Eeks.
September 2015:
- Rockshic baby starts school!!! Okay… so basically April through August has been one big dance gearing us for the ultimate separation. I have to say that after a painful start, we finally got into a nice groove (see breakthrough post here). It certainly wasn’t easy getting there though, as I’m sure many parents could attest to.
- My NYC besties (the same ones who came to visit me in Florida back in March) and I embarked on our annual girl-trip back to the Hamptons… this basically marked the last of my Hamptons summer. Sigh. (See my favorite Montauk shopping list).
- Um, is it Fall already? Seriously how did this happen? I turn around and it’s already Pumpkin Picking time!
October 2015:
- With pumpkin comes Halloween! Mummy went a bit nutso (yet again) this year with the costumes… hopefully 2016 will be a bit calmer (now there’s a New Year’s resolution).
- Oh and I started Jetset Graffiti. I like to think of it as a spin off of my hobby’s hobby really… something that I do just for giggles and fun.
- My bestie from Brazil (the same one who helped me ring in the New Year comes to visit!). This was a mega thing for me… and of course, I don’t quite have anything to show for it. I’ll have to do some serious catch-up in 2016.
- Adirondacks with my favorite Cutie Patroller!
November 2015:
- Italy!!! Seriously this was a pretty mega undertaking for us. Things were getting crazy at work, which made planning all the more difficult. Though I’m really glad that we made the most of our week-long trip to Milan and the Italian Lakes (just the two of us, see Thanksgiving post from Lake Como). I’m behind on my features, of course… but rest assured they are all coming.
- On the cultural front, I must admit that November was a bit disappointing. We saw Kiera Knightly on Broadway in “Theresa Raquin” and Al Pacino in the David Memet production “Chinadoll.” Suffice the latter was much much worse. Really, I have no words.
December 2015:
- We tried to make the most of our little man’s time in NYC before he jets to Florida for the holidays (tough life I know), this included going to see the Christmas tree at Rockefeller, birthday parties, and seeing the Holiday Train show at the NY Botanical Garden
- Christmas in Florida!!! Complete with Santa on the Beach. The rest is history.
With that, please let me take this moment to wish you a very happy holidays and New Year! 2015 has been grand, if a bit exhausting (though I suppose that just comes with the territory of being an adult doesn’t it). I couldn’t have done it without your support… and truly, my world would not be complete without Rockshic’s presence and inspiration. So I wanted to take this moment to express my deepest thanks and love. #grateful
