P.S. How adorable is that hanging wall from MASA? I'm totally obsessed.
Well hello there!! I can't believe that it is already April 12. Here I was still not quite ready to let go of March… But nevertheless, here we are! In fact we've already done our first Easter Egg Hunt recently, see here for some impossibly cute bunnyvibes.
Just this past weekend, we went to the Marcato for a Summer Camp Fair. While we largely plan to spend the summer on Long Island, it was still beneficial to do some research ahead of time!! As we would like our little one to learn a few new things this time around, (last year he did his summer camp with Third Street Music which was a hit!). Personally, I would like the Nuke Baby to learn some new skills such as horseback riding, swimming, tennis, and even a little bit of golf! OK, so golf might be a bit far-fetched… I think you need to be at least five in order to have the attention span for golf! Geez, where did the time go... I still feel like it was yesterday that our little Nuke man was born... and now we're actually talking Golf lessons?? Nuts.
For the occasion, Mamma went with something super easy breezy and coastal… I got these white rimmed glasses recently from the Glasses Shop (www.GlassesShop.com) -- last featured here.
Now, as many of you might know by now, I'm mostly a dark-framed-lenses kind of a girl, but I thought that this time around I would branch out a little... you know, try something completely new!! You could say that I'm likely bit conservative when it comes to glasses, so why not experiment & mix things up for a change?
As it turned out, this particular pair (the Kensee Rectangle in White and Clear) was a total hit! (Once again, it pays to take chances!). I am loving the fact that I get to have a little bit of brightness/almost resort-like feel to my in-door/executive-vibe glasses. Nothing like injecting some sunshine while you're stuck in meetings amidst mahogany wood all day long!
I also love the fact that the white coloring helps to brighten my face, bringing out my eyes and cheek bones. In fact, it feels like I'm wearing a pair of fun vacation sunglasses but *indoors,* without the rudeness of having to wear sunglasses among peers and colleagues (that wouldn't fly in my profession anyways... sorry, I don't work for Vogue).
So -- as far as eye-wear experiments go, I would say that this one is definitely a win, and you will likely see me wear these puppies for many many moons to come! For more information on these glasses see here. Note that you can also use GSHOT50 and get 50% off on all eyeglasses/sunglasses with free lenses!!!
I can’t believe that it’s that time of the year again, can you believe it – time to bust out those costumes and get out there for some sweet treats!
Speaking of treats – today’s post is all about a GIVEAWAY!!! Yes yes, that’s right, we haven’t done one of those in a while.
I actually discovered this brand recently while corresponding with the lovely expecting mammas of Instagram (such a great community!). Turns out it’s a fantastic one-stop shop for the pregnant-chic lady, her cuddly chics, and those critical first few months when she’ll be nursing!!! There’s a little something for everybody, even accessories, robes, and too-cute-for-words toys.
Here mamma’s donning the black Aztec Dolman maternity cardigan (currently on sale!), ideal for this time of the year and so totally my style. I wore this the other day while taking little man out for a slice at Williamsburg Pizza.
The best part? Rockshic is partnering up with Pinkblush for a $75 giftcard giveaway! Exciting right.
Here’s what you need to do:
Follow Rockshic on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
Follow Pinkblush on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
Leave a blog comment, tweet me, or simply send me a msg via Facebook and Instagram and let me know what your favorite #Pinkblushmaternity look is and how you will style it. The more creative the better – while you’re at it, why not mix it a little bit of that Halloween spirit?
That’s all, simple right? Giveaway ends this Wednesday Thursday, November 2 3, 2016. I’ll announce the winner then!
He loves his construction vehicles #cantgetenough #wallart
I hope you guys are doing well. Mamma’s been feeling a bit sluggish as of late… not surprisingly. I’ve been having some real trouble with my breathing, and after looking into this (thanks to “What to Expect when You’re Expecting”), it turns out that this condition is quite normal and that it’s a result of my uterus stretching and compressing my organs – chief of which being my lungs. Ouch! Hubs said that the same thing happened last time, though for some reason I can’t recall any of this, suppose this is just some cruel trick that evolution plays on us to make us forget for the next time we bring life into this world?
Who knows… be that as it may, it’s not a great feeling, and on top of that I’ve been having “pregnancy sniffles.” Yes, apparently this is a thing! Although I can’t quite tell the difference between pregnancy sniffles and actually having a cold.
All that said, whenever you have a crappy day, it’s always nice to see a “little me-upper” when you head home, and that’s precisely what recently occurred when I arrived back to my apartment building! A beautiful Bonpoint bag awaits with goodies for both Nuke Baby and our soon Nuke Baby Version #2 (as hubs calls it). Nothing like a little savoir-faire French couture children’s clothes to brighten your day. For the record, Bonpoint doesn’t just make beautiful children’s clothes… it’s an entire brand of carefully curated luxury lifestyle items – see here. Bon Chic!
You’ve heard me write about them before, and I’ve no doubt that you’ll see me write about them again. In looking back at the past three years, as munchkin just celebrated his third birthday (both with us at the Lake house and with his friends at the zoo), I’m attaching some of my favorite Bonpoint looks that I’ve styled for him for school.
Sigh – too bad now he mostly wears his uniform Mondays through Fridays à la Land’s End (oh how the mighty have fallen). Though I’m not going to lie, a part of me is somewhat relieved given both the time and money saved!!!
Happy Thursday! It’s been yet another hectic week, as we cruise toward the end of the year (yes I said it!!), and so much is happening on the work front. More on that another time.
Speaking of the perfect work accessory, today I’m sharing with you my latest obsession – the classic GANT shirt. Now as you might know, the classic and iconic shirtmaker has been around for ages now (they actually launched in 1949 in New Haven targeting the style-conscious consumer with an active lifestyle). But did you know that the traditional shirt also has multiple variations? Yes yes! Just check out the GANT Monochorme Flower Print Voile Shirt, I fell instantly in love the minute I saw it. There are countless potentials for styling, buttoned, open, layered, you name it. It’s the perfect combination of bold masculinity (with the signature box pleat at the back) enhanced with sophisticated touches of feminism.
These days, I like to style it with the shirt unbuttoned – to accommodate that growing bellybump! Here’s a recent look that I wore to munchkin’s birthday party held at the Prospect Park Zoo, it was a hot day, but the delicate, lightweight, silk and cotton fabric kept this mamma *super cool*. The best part? This look is versatile enough for all four seasons!!!
Bonpoint head to toe! Scarf, sweater, and pants all from Bonpoint.
Coming back from Preschool -- now he scoots to school. So incredible how fast they grow up! #RockshicBaby #Bonpoint #CityBoy
Happy Columbus Day everyone!
If you’re like me, then your babies and toddlers are likely wreaking havoc back at home since school is closed today (gasp!). Thankfully, we had an active early morning and afternoon, filled with reading time at the Union Square Barnes and Nobles, followed by exploring the Union Square Green Market and some play-time at Evelyn’s Playground (love that spot!).
Suffice to say… all of this excitement equates to one tired monkey, which means nap time for him, and an opportunity for me to tell you ALL about the upcoming Bonpoint Fall/Winter sample sale NEXT WEDNESDAY (October 19th) and THURSDAY (October 20th)!!! You better save this one, because discounts can be as high as 60%, and it just doesn’t get better than this – especially now that the temperature has officially dropped and we are all revamping our mini-me’s wardrobe quicker than you can say flash sale.
Anyone who knows me and my precious Rockshic Baby knows that we are tremendous fans of the brand (thanks to the Daily Obsession circa 2013!). They make some of the loveliest pieces for littles that truly last, with the sort of detail that I just don’t see anywhere else.
That said, munchkin’s incoming younger bro is going to be one lucky chap to be inheriting his Bonpoint wardrobe! I’ll be sharing some of my favorite Bonpoint looks from Rockshic Baby later this week, so please stay tuned!
Another one of my all-time favorite Bonpoint looks! Shirt, vest, and pants all from Bonpoint. This was taken last Fall at the Standard East Village, one of our favorite outdoor brunching spots. See City Baby Dining. #CityBaby #Bonpoint #theStandard
Button-down shirt and corduroy pants all from Bonpoint -- you can tell that munchkin couldn't wait to get his hands on this outfit
Completely OBSESSED with this fur vest (and can you really blame me)? Wish they carried this in my size. #BonpointBaby
On this awfully gloomy day here in NYC, this mamma is still recovering from her nasty weekend cold… but wanted to take a moment and share some fun news (and actually quite belated news at that!).
Much like the collaborations I’ve done in the past with the likes of Tabelog and New York on My Mind – I’ve teamed up with Luxe Recess more recently as the official contributor to their online resources for discerning families on the go. For all of my readers in the know, this is a fantastic digital resource for all things luxury hotels and travel-orientated, particularly when you’re moving about with little ones in tow. In fact, Robin Hutson, the founder of Luxe Recess, is one of the smartest and savviest cookies I know in this industry (a true entrepreneur and mamma of two! I doff my hat off to her). She’s also somebody I’ve had the pleasure to get to know over time… reason number one hundred and twenty one of why I love what I do in the social media space. Did you know that we met by sheer happenstance because we both covered the Crawell Resort in the Berkshires? Talk about small world!
So… please take a moment, savor a cup of latte (or two), and scroll through all that Luxe Recess have to offer! My first article focuses on the best of Naples, Florida – a place you all know I love and basically retreat to for all of our winters!! Have a fun read, and I’d love to hear all about what you think!!!
Check out me wearing Glamourmom, a little over a year ago here. What a difference!!
Kisses from the munchkin are the best kind! ♥♥♥
We may be in warmer weather now here in coastal Florida, but not too long ago, both Rockshic mummy and Rockshic baby were rolling in the cold cold airs of downtown Manhattan (and rocking our respective statement vests, as you can see!).
This feature is particularly near and dear to my heart, as I had first discovered the fantastic brand Glamourmom while I was still pregnant and taking breastfeeding workshops in the Upper West Side (see my previous featured here, when little Nuke was just two weeks old! My goodness he was positively TINY!!).
As you may have read in a recent post of mine on pumping and breastfeeding, I’m still nursing at 15 months post birth, and my philosophy is – why not go for it if you can still do it? It’s certainly beneficial for both you and your baby, and encouraged by every healthcare expert I know (though have no doubt – it is a serious time commitment to keep going).
Here I’ve paired my Glamourmom nursing top (with extra length on the bottom for a flattering fit!) in dark heather grey with my favorite Theory sweater and my H&M vegan-fur best that’s been racking up compliments lately. My grey nursing top is made of extra soft cotton, with a full built-in bra (two for one!), and wide, adjustable sporty straps for both comfort and support. I find the cut of my Glamourmom to be absolutely fantastic, not to mention super comfy for moms on-the-go (case in point – yours truly had to make a quick pit-stop to the local Wholefoods before making a playdate at the Wren with my little guy). For more details on the nursing top, see here.
Plus, what could be more city-chic and versatile than dark grey? Trust me, it’s a must have for any winter wardrobe… just look at the little ones as they frolic in the Wren!
Clearly, they’re in the know when it comes to baby fashion.
Munchkins at the Wren, rocking their matching greys ;) #cuteness #citybaby #onthebowery

Munchkin and I striking a pose... channeling his best John Snow impression ;)
Well hello there! Yet another week has passed and so much to fill in!! Where to begin, we relished the last few beautiful sunshine days of the season by heading to the iconic Central Park up north – easing in with the requisite brunch at Landmarc (inside the Time Warner center) of course…
Then, it was off to the park and inside the Central Park Zoo (our very first family excursion to the zoo, would you believe). For our day-long excursion (which involved multiple snack stops, milk and water intake, diaper changes, and potential outfit swaps), I took along my trusty leather Firenze bag by PacaPod, a fortuitous recent find!! This is a beautifully made bag that completely deviates from your usual “mom bag.” It is streamlined, sophisticated, high-end, and above all, it is incredibly compact and travels incredibly well (I’m envisioning tons of plane rides and weekend trips with this new addition to my fashion arsenal).
The best part? My Firenze PacaPod bag comes with detachable clips to your pram that makes both multi-functional, and super duper easy for mums to use. Inside, there’s also two separate “pods” (aka cute mini bags that you can opt to use separately if you wish), one for feeding (equipped with cooler bag and storage pocket), and one for diaper changing (changing pad et all!). Yours truly have already towed the red mini feeding bag about town, including to munchkin’s recent paint class at the Children’s Museum of Arts in Soho!!
As though true to form, I was approached by several parents while gallivanting at the Tisch Children’s Zoo, telling me how much they loved my bag. Of course, they went even more gaga once I told them that this was actually a diaper bag. Worry not, I told them… you can find these puppies at buybuy BABY!!!
Goodies inside the Empire Hotel suite. #eventsuite
This busy (and finally recovering mamma) took a break today and headed uptown to the Runway Ready Room, brought to you by PRIV, Yosi Samra, and GiGi New York – arguably the most delightful trifecta of yumminess.
I must admit, it’s nice to leave my piles of paperwork and mommy duties behind for a little glamour and beauty treatment. And what better place to do it than at the suite of the iconic Empire Hotel, right across from Lincoln Center, at the heart of all the NY Fashion week action. (Funnily enough, yours truly was just here last week with Nuke baby at the Lincoln, as the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Tent had just gone up).
The best part? I got my own personalized leather clutch from GiGi New York, plus a pair of Samara leather flats from Yosi Samra in neon that will so fantastically pop with my summer tan! I can’t wait to rock these beauties for my girl-trip in Montauk next weekend!!!
So fun! The last time I had anything monogrammed was at the Louis Vuitton Champs-Élysées during Paris Fashion Week. That was last March while I was 16 weeks pregnant, might as well be a lifetime ago!!
Tousled hair? Check. Comfy and chic lounge-wear? Check. My munchkin in tow? Check, check, and check. This is me on most mornings! Mamma's rocking her cotton candy nursing bra and graphic yoga pants from Naples, Florida! (courtesy of Bala Vinyasa Yoga, last seen here) #rockshicbaby
When I was pregnant with the Nuke, I promised myself that I would try and breastfeed for as long as possible. Everything I’ve read about and heard of up until that point have uniformly pointed to the benefits of breastfeeding for both mother and child.
Fast-forward more than eight months later after giving birth, and I am still going strong! (Shoulder pat). On the one hand, it's doing wonders for my skin and complexion (cheers to that nursing mum glow), but on the other hand, it is wreaking absolute havoc on my work schedule, not to mention my already limited threshold for multi-tasking.
“You’re a person who’s very goal-orientated,” said hubby, during my (many) moments of weakness and protestation over the difficulties of juggling nursing (and motherhood writ-large).
I’m not quite sure where he was going with that remark, but I’ll take that on-board as a positive. The truth is, I’ll do whatever is best for my child, and if that means persevering at the nursing game (recognizing that I am incredibly lucky to be able to produce milk at all), then so be it!
That was a very lengthy intro, by the way, to what I’m about to tell you, which is all about my new-found obsession with Cake Maternity and Nursing wear – brought to you by ways of Australia!). I tella ya, the Antipodeans really know how to rock it when it comes to baby, maternity and post-partum fashion (more on this later).
I’ve recently come across Cake Lingerie via research on-line, and absolutely love EVERYTHING. Not only do their products boast high quality, but they're also made to look and feel absolutely fantastic!!! Just check out some of their lace-detailed numbers here.
For me – this Cotton Candy seamless piece is absolutely timeless, and it is also super comfortable, so that I can even wear it interchangeably as a fitness bra! (Cue – post-partum yoga anyone?).
Look how much my little Nuke has changed the last time we did a Nursingwear photo-shoot together!
Munchkin's propensity to gnaw my necklaces made me realize it was time to invest in some Chewbeads!
