Mamma’s on a roll here! Really raising the bar for April here. These pics were taken over the weekend, I had booked us tickets to the Peter Pan Marionette theater puppet show in Central Park. Did you know there’s a literal Swedish Cottage inside with marionette puppets right in the high 70s/80s close by the Museum of Natural History?!! I didn’t either. I happen to chance upon the discovery and loved the concept.
The best part was, my little guy (who is definitely the more problematic one in this household) absolutely LOVED the show! He kept the entire time, eyes glued to the stage, I was truly impressed. The production value was quite good as well! We will definitely be back.
Now about that rather intense plot that is Peter Pan... I never quite appreciated how dark these children’s tales can be. Jealousy? Running away from home? The lost boys? Tinker bell poisoned?!!! It was all **crazy** intense (though quite possibly the lack of sleep also kicked in for Mamma, which no doubt compounded the issue!!).
Hi hi! I’m squeezing in my last post for April… and then it’s (holy moly) MAY!!! Can you believe it? Before you know it school will be over, I would have just started my new job for over a month, and we will be off to our first family vacay since… well since Florida I suppose.
First, some watershed moments. I’m planning a trip in late May to take my little guy to Cambridge for my FIFTEEN year reunion. Omg, did those words just come out of my words, yes yes one five! From there we’ll be heading to Cancun in June, and then another destination wedding late in the Fall.
Which bring me to the topic de-jour. Weddings! As we know, getting married will be one of your life’s most momentous occasions. Saying “yes” to the engagement is just the first – and perhaps shortest – step. Next comes planning for the big event. Trust me, I look back at some of my wedding photos and I’m amazed that I *had* that much energy in me (I suppose that’s what your twenties is all about).
Over the years, I’ve had the great fortune of attending quite a few weddings, and I can say that, without question, the first step in the plan is to find the perfect venue. Where the wedding takes place will often dictate many of your later choices!! Once you nail down a physical location, everything else will pretty much flow through, right? In fact, I was told that some brides start by choosing a preferred month before immediately searching for accommodating venues. (This is true in my case, where we nailed down early October as the “ideal time”… how we reached that conclusion, I really cannot tell you.
What I can say, however, is that I’ve been told that Avery Ranch Golf Club (10500 Avery Club Drive), near Austin, TX, is the perfect choice for a local wedding if you happen to be in that neck of the woods! With a sprawling golf course, plenty of outside space to take photos, and an indoor area for dining and dancing, Avery Ranch is the perfect setting for a dream wedding, and it’s close enough to Austin for all your guests to attend.
If you've been searching for the perfect “golf course wedding venues me,” you should definitely consider this spot. With serene natural appeal and the ability to accommodate guest lists large or small, as well as indoor or outdoor weddings, this venue might just be the perfect choice. Just think of the photos!
For intimate weddings, Avery Ranch features the Sunset Club House, which is a gorgeous reception space that holds up to 60 guests and is quite ideal for an intimate wedding reception (holds up to 60 guests, with amazing views of Brushy Creek and the infinity pool). Yours truly had about 75 people at my wedding, and I personally believe that it’s the ideal number (not that I’m biased or anything!). Of course, for larger weddings, the 4,000 square-foot Lakeview Room accommodates up to 200 guests. It features an infinity pool, private deck with trees, and a view of Brushy Creek.
With the option for full-staff catering, wonderful photo opportunities, a gorgeous setting and more, the Avery Ranch might just be the perfect choice for your wedding! So if Austin is your scene, I highly recommend calling Avery Ranch Gold Club and see what this fine venue in the heart of Texas has to offer. Speaking of Texas, the last time this mamma popped by was to Houston. I do miss that neck of the woods. Time for another trip perhaps?
The cutest little bunny on the roofdeck! #16months
Brothers on the roof... I love how well they get on together
Bunny and puppy, my boy's a dog lover!
It's an all boys-club on the roof! #boysquad
My heart is melting. No greater happiness than seeing your kids laugh together.
Well well how goes it Monday? I cannot believe that May is just around the corner, and quicker than you can say “flash” – 2018 will be half-way over!!
Gasp.
Okay, perhaps yours truly is getting ahead of herself here. That said, this weekend was literally the ONE nice weekend we had (and it was only Saturday that was gorgeous!). Nevertheless, it was sheer perfection, and it was simply lovely to witness the city came alive!!! Literally everybody was out and about, what a sight to behold. It almost makes you wonder where these people have gone during the winter (really are there THAT many people living in Manhattan?!! Answer is yes).
Sadly it seems like the rest of this week is not to be (in terms of nice weather), but a girl can dream!! After all, Spring has officially arrived, and Summer is practically just around the corner. 🌷🌼🌻
My goodness I’ve let an entire mont slip by, oops! But in truth March was a tad bit insane, what with Mamma switching jobs and what not... yes yes that’s right! I’ve begun a new chapter entirely, which makes this post rather apropos, as Easter signifies, among many things, new beginnings and the advent of spring/hope.
It’s been a long time coming hasn’t it, in fact I swore that I was going to say goodbye to all things negative circa November 2016 (when my little Rockshicbaby #2 was still inside this mamma’s belly, yikes!!). Life is funny that way, and as I said in my last post, the welcoming of the Year of the Dog officially marked the end of 2017 for me, and boy am I glad to see the year of the rooster go bye bye!!
Back to Easter... well, what can I say, Easter holds so much meaning for me. For one thing, my little Rockshicbaby #2 was conceived during Easter weekend circa 2016!!! Might have even been a Sunday too, I’ll have to double check. Hubs and I did fertility treatment, which makes timings incredibly accurate. I know this because I asked hubs to take munchkin egg-hunting that day (after doing all the research of course), and he arrived too late... to be fair Easter activities in Manhattan can be very intense. (As with all things in Manhattan).
These photos were taken this Sunday at the Highline Hotel. I dare say I quite enjoyed our little outing!! There were no eggs to be hunted, but I brought some in my basket (call me the Easter bunny!) and my little man and his pals couldn’t be happier. Of course it being New York there were long queues for pretty much everything (balloons, petting zoo, face painting, you name it). The funny thing is, when I asked little man how he felt about all the lines he said “there was a line?” Kids eh, they do crack me up.
It was the perfect ending to our weekend, and a great way to start April (which I’ve a feeling will be sheer pandemonium, much like our Easter outing in the Meatpacking).
Happy Easter my lovelies!!! I hope that Bunnies bring happiness and joy to you and your family. xoxo
