Hello and happy Friday! A little more than a week to go and we are almost at the end of June. That's right -- 2017 is almost halfway over!!!
I can hardly believe it myself. June has definitely been a busy month in this household, marked by ton of milestones.... not the least of which includes:
1) Mamma going back to work!!! That's right, week 2 and counting…
This is my second time returning to the workforce from maternity on a full-time basis. In many ways, it is very different from my last experience. Arguably however, in spite of all the emotional jitters and technical differences, there are some things that one does learn from the first go-around which are invaluable and certainly help to manage one’s expectations a little bit better. See "Reflections of a Working Mommy," my post back in early 2015, after I’ve had nearly a year to reflect upon my return to the office the first go-around, post the birth of Nuke Baby #1.
2) Rockshic Baby #2 turned 6 months old! In fact – on the very day he turned six months, we all got on a plane and flew back from Naples, Florida. How we managed to do all of this and still maintain our sanity is beyond me, but nevertheless, we survived. (Besides, sanity is all judged on a relative basis right?).
3) Related to #2, we moved back to NYC! It feels good to be back, especially now that the weather is so hot in Florida (I blame it on the humidity). On top of all that, my big man is preparing to start Summer Camp next week!! Yowza. It’s not quite sleep-away camp, but I still feel my inner mummy anxieties rising up. He is growing up way too fast!
4) Mamma also went on her “last hurrah” trip to Portland, Oregon the first weekend of June (feels like such a distant memory now). More to come on that one, but let’s just say that it was everything I had wanted to do, and so much more. Portland is a great city, and I was fortunate enough to have experienced it before returning back to the grind.
5) Last Sunday, we cheered on all of the Dads in our lives for Father’s Day!!! This is our fifth year celebrating it with our little family (which is admittedly getting bigger!). You can read more about our weekend celebrations here.
6) Mama and papa went on our first “real” Date Night since… I can’t even tell you when. We checked out Industry Kitchen right on South Street Seaport (more to come on that). It was a perfect outing and reminded us of just how much we missed New York!
That’s all for now… it’s been busy busy busy as go from Portland to Florida and back to New York, but it certainly helps to keep us on our toes. Now we just have to make it through the weekend.
Happy Friyay everyone! 🙌🏻
