Happy belated Valentine’s day to all!!!
Another Valentine’s has come and gone (I tell ya, this day takes on a completely different meaning once when you have children)… and I cannot believe how frenetic things have been lately! In truth, Valentine's should not be captured as simply a day, but more like an entire SEASON, because that's what it feels like!
No joke, this mamma can barely catch my breath from day to night, such is the joy of #momlife.
This year, more than ever, my big man has been super duper involved with all things Valentine’s related… largely because his school truly made a mega event out of it. I suppose that is what kids are into these days – major-themed holidays, arts and crafts, songs and dances, and of course… plenty of treats and sweets!
Speaking of sweets, how ridiculously cute is this: we made Valentine's crafts at the Naples library and had a major V-day celebration at his Montessori school yesterday… complete with cupcakes, gift cards, decorations, not to mention tons & tons of sugar-filled candied hearts!!! (Nobody said that Valentine’s day is the healthiest of occasions).
Sigh, these holidays really are for the kids aren’t they?
It’s hard to imagine that just two years ago I was doing this with little man (who could hardly formulate sentences!!!), and even earlier (i.e., four years prior) hubby and I were rocking out on our own before we had children (aka dining out just the two of us in Manhattan’s East Village on Valentine’s day). Heck, mamma even got to attend the Carolina Herrera runway show as part of New York Fashion Week.
Meanwhile, my little tiny man was at home, allowing mommy to play a little (okay a lot) of dress-up on him, whilst showering him with tons of cuddles and kisses. I can’t believe this little guy is 2 months already! Feels like just the other day when we became a family of four. I tell ya, I find myself running around all day long between these two little men, feeling completely shagged but oh-so-in-love.
That’s the thing with having children, isn’t it. They are like these little pieces of your heart (the most important piece) running out there in the world... outside of you, for the rest of your life. All you can do is love them unconditionally and pray for the best.
