Happy New Year and hello from Southwest Florida!!! We just arrived yesterday... and yes, the last few days have been nothing short of a whirlwind experience.
This post marks Rockshic's FIRST ONE for 2017, and it couldn’t have been a more momentous one. Our little Rockshic Baby #2 arrived a little over three weeks ago (yes, I can't believe that three weeks has gone by!!!), and we couldn’t be more over the moon with our little bundle of love. I have to say, having two kids is far more difficult than I had ever envisioned (surprise, surprise) – but also so overwhelmingly rewarding! I never realized how my perspective would change so fundamentally from having one child to two, but I've quickly learned that love is truly multiplicative, even if your priorities shift based on what is immediately in front of you.
In short, it now feels like our little family is more complete than it’s ever been!
To give you a sense of our initial days... well, it was real touch and go at the very beginning, something I will go into further detail later on when we get more settled. Suffice to say, our little baby munchkin had to spend a full seven days post birth in the NICU, largely because he had a potential bacterial infection of unknown origin (to this day the doctors still don’t know what caused the fever, and they’ll likely never know). It may not seem like much now, but those days of separation from my newborn baby boy were tremendously painful -- some of the more difficult moments I've had to experience as a parent. Oh yeah, and post-partum!
Never mind all of that now, I just can’t believe that our little Nuke Baby 2 is home with us and it’s already been more than two weeks! We’ve done quite a lot since, which I’ll definitely catch up on over the course of the next few days… but for now, I just want to share a few treasured photos with you all from the first few days. They really grow so fast these little people – my guy was born 8 pounds and 13 ounces (NOT SMALL! Though decidedly smaller than his bigger brother) and is now nearly 11 pounds strong. Growing like a weed and I just wish that time would stand still so that I can savor every moment of this.
I also wish that I would get more sleep and have a constant supply of coffee pumped through my veins, but that’s a whole other story.
