Happy Friday! After a weekend away (see our latest romp in the Hamptons and chillaxing vibe by the pier), we’re back in the mix, and spending this weekend local in NYC. I know I know… summers are all about getting AWAY from the city, though certainly there is the inevitable appeal of wanting to stay close to home. Plus, hubs and I recently sat down to review our upcoming trips, and we realized that this weekend will be the ONLY weekend we’re staying put in Manhattan before our muchkin officially starts school come September (eeks!).
That sad, I wanted to share with you some recent snapshots taken at the (newish) restaurant Untitled at the Whitney Museum, brought to you by the ubiquitous Danny Meyer (mastermind of Maialino, Gramercy Tavern, The Modern, and… oh yeah, Shake Shack). Safe to say, you may have heard of him.
I had first caught wind of Untitled per Grubstreet’s Power Ranking (which also featured Oiji and the Happiest Hour). If you haven’t heard of this crazy informative list you should definitely check it out! I am kind of obsessed. Touted as one of the hottest restaurants in NYC right now, I was keen to check out the goods, and it certainly did not disappoint!
I was in fabulous company (a group of four women gossiping and powering through a multi-course meal, what could be better?), and between all of us, we pretty much ordered the entire menu. Everything was delicious, but my own personal take was this – the starters were absolutely lovely, with freshly-sourced, seasonal veggies and ingredients. The cocktail selection was also refreshingly original , not to mention delicious. The best part… get ready for this, was the dessert! Yes, the desserts!!! We ate away like it’s nobody’s business. Who would have thought that a simple triple chocolate chunk cookie (with milk served on the side) would be so life-changing?
The décor of the café is actually quite casual (I was personally surprised by the lack of fanfare there... in a good way). In fact, my ideal afternoon would entail a leisurely stroll on the High Line, followed by sweets and carbo-loading at Untitled. Bonus? It’s also super kid-friendly!!! (Changing table in the bathroom and everything). So definitely warrants a review on City Baby Dining sometime soon.
