Happy Sunday! It’s sad to bid adieu to the weekend, but what better way to enjoy one last hurrah than with some awesome dining, family style, at Momofuku Ssäm Bar?
Yours truly have already written about Momofuku Ko (see here), and enjoyed every last bite of her tasting meal while heavily preggers.
I am also a HUGE fan of the crack pie at Momofuku Milk Bar (so much so that I made sure to pack them in my go-bag before the Nuke arrived). Yes, it was that kind of love.
Oh, and every once in a while, I’d stop by at the Momofuku Noodle bar, on my way to the 14th street Y for little Nuke’s Friday Music class.
Come to think of it – I may be slightly stalking David Chang…
All jokes aside, my best piece of advice would be, find 6-10 willing participants and DO the pork shoulder dinner (otherwise known as the Bo Ssäm)! It’s actually a great way to organize your next birthday dining experience, if you can get yourself a reservation (food for thought). In my view, we could have easily fed 10+ people with the amount of pork that was served… oh so soft and tender, moist, and full-on delicious. Wrap that baby up with a bed of fresh greens, kimchi, add some ginger-scallion spicy goodness, and you have a meal that is to die for (I’m drooling as we speak, and I’m still full from dinner!).
Side note: absolutely obsessed with the seven spice sour cocktail (sake, yuzu, lime, and shichimi), I think I’ll take five please. Next time you’re at Booker and Dax (the bar next door, also part of the Momofuku empire), ask for one… you can thank me later.
P.S. Nuke baby enjoyed it too! (Though I fear that the pork might have been a bit too heavy for him). Rest assured, however -- the resto is totally baby friendly! A for service.
