Recently, we drove up to the Catskills for a little weekend getaway. For the occasion, we shacked up at the Arnold House on Shandalee Mountain, which was just perfect for our family excursion with little Nuke in tow.
The Arnold House is a recently renovated and well curated boutique hotel , run by our NYC power-couple friends Sims Foster and Kirsten Harlow Foster (you may recall her from this feature). Together, these globetrotters and hospitality experts opened up this sophisticated country treat in Livingston Manor, which is so much more than your average bed and breakfast. Think of this as a sophisticated retreat for the chicette crowd – ideal for city-dwellers such as ourselves who are constantly in need of a temporary refuge and some relaxing greenery.
Every little detail, from the organic hand-made quiche served at breakfast, to the well-chosen interior design that is both understated and eclectic, exudes both depth and care. In fact, from the moment you walk into the lobby, you instantly realize that this is what luxe-living, coupled with laid-back charm, is all about.
Each of the nine bedrooms are well appointed and tastefully decorated, making for an ideal backdrop of the gorgeous and bucolic 7-acre landscape that the property is set on. Oh, and did I mention that there’s a lovely barn out in the back that plays live music in the evenings and serves up a fantastic out-door BBQ? (The house brisket is to die!!). There’s even a bonfire, which served as our welcome reception, as we arrived with a sleeping baby in tow – now, how great is that?!
