So this just happened.
My West Coast Bestie and I – in the heart of the valley – drinking rosé, frolicking in an immaculately kept property and pool, under one of the most serene and gorgeous settings in town. Yes, that’s right ladies and gents, I’m referring to my recent stay at the Rosewood Sand Hill in Menlo Park.
Now, I’ve been to SF many times, but this was really the first introduction ever to the Silicon Valley. We were there to scope out the food scene (see Instagram feeds), do a fashion tour or two, and even squeeze in a wedding between two GSB grads (who very apropos!). Personally, I was surprised that these Stanford lovebirds didn’t choose this very hotel as the venue for their big day (admittedly there was another wedding going on that day), since the beautifully kept grounds would make a perfect backdrop for such an occasion.
Our spacious suite had a private patio facing the garden with orchard trees (sigh), and there was absolutely nothing more serene in the morning than getting a cup of jo (Nespresso of course!) and sitting down with your Sunday Times in hand. The room itself was gorgeously done – think zen and luxe, with amazing fixtures, a grand closet, and even a cozy fireplace in the suite! My discerning and very design-conscious roomie was quite taken aback, even commenting on the Rosewood Sand Hill’s attention to details such as wall decals and bathroom amenities. Suffice to say, it was indisputably impressive.
During the weekdays, I get the sense that this is a very popular hotel amongst the top movers and shakers of Silicon Valley (can you say, Venture Capitalist galore?). To be fair – yours truly was there for a mix of business and pleasure herself. Though make no doubt, this is also one divine place to visit and unwind – be it as a couple or with the best of friends in tow. My one regret was that we couldn’t stay longer (only one night and I had to jet back to NYC).
Truthfully, I could have quite happily just remained in that pool all day long!!
P.S. Do check out the Michelin-starred Madera restaurant on premise if you get the chance! I would absolutely dine there on a weekly basis if I were a local.
