While we're on the subject of swimming, I came across these photos recently while going through my archives (a girl has to be organized somehow!). The following pictures feature us shark diving in South Africa – one of the more adventurous things I did, which I would highly recommend!
Where we went -- off the coast of Gansbaai, is great for shark diving, and for the most part why lots of folks choose to go to Gansbaai (though it’s an incredibly picturesque town with some fantastic dining).
First things first, shark diving is, arguably, an incredibly cool experience -- it's up there with snowmobiling in Iceland and canyoning in Costa Rica. That said, the toughest part about shark diving, believe it or not, is not actually the diving itself (for that you're in a cage with other compatriots, lending a sense of comfort – albeit a deceptive sense of security perhaps?).
The hardest part, I found by far, was being on the boat amidst the choppy waters. I managed to keep it together (but only just), while poor hubs got sick on the ride back (don't tell him I told you!). Either way, to see it was certainly an adventure worth doing... Definitely not kiddo friendly, so I'm glad we got it out of the way before the nuke's arrival!!!
Now, somewhere buried deep in our messy apartment… is a video of me shark-diving (I swear!). That said, I am now utterly fixated on finding that DVD somehow, if nothing else -- to prove to my babykins that mommy was cool at one stage.
Wish me luck!
