I wanted to sneak in one more pregnancy style for week 33. I wore this outfit over the weekend while out shopping and brunching with the girls (so much fun!). I relish these moments because something tells me that after our little bundle arrives, I won’t be able to do this… at least not for a while.
After a lovely catch-up brunch at Schiller’s on 131 Rivington, we headed next door to Szeki (157 Rivington), a neighborhood boutique that I dig. I had first met the shop owner, Szeki Chan, during an Asian Women in Business (AWIB) event back in November – which also featured Yumi Kim, another one of my favorite local designers. Szeki makes incredibly chic clothing with clean lines and a strong sense of downtown gamine aesthetics, which is why I couldn’t help but pick up this linen blazer in navy (asymmetrically cut of course!). Believe me when I say that I fully intend to incorporate this little number into my go-to summer wardrobe.
I’ll share a little secret with you – ever since I’ve gotten pregnant, I’ve noticed a change in skin pigmentation under, of all places, my underarms! A brief search on the web shows that this phenomenon is not altogether uncommon, particularly among women with darker skin. Be that as it may, it’s still a bummer (I mean, who likes dark patches under their arms?). As a result, I’ve taken to wearing more cropped jackets and shirts, even in the heat of summer. That said, with this little Szeki number, arm coverage never looked so good and slenderizing!
My Asos polka-dot maternity pencil skirt also allows me to kick in a little youthful edge to my look (though the bright fuchsia and black circles necessitates toning down the rest of my ensemble!). All in all, I’d say that this look is definitely one of my favorite summer time preggy-styles.
