In spite a long day at work, I somehow caught my second wind back at my apartment and decided to officially launch my Baby Shower “Thank you” process. Mind you, it’s already July, and I had my baby shower in the middle of June, the day before Father’s day (also bizarrely, the same day that Kim Kardashian gave birth, but that’s neither here nor there).
I’ve been meaning to share some photos from that wonderful day, which I enjoyed far more than I thought I would! In truth, I had lots of anxieties about it, and I can’t even attribute it to any one factor (pregnancy hormones perhaps?). I suppose deep down I harbored these irrational fears that nobody would come, and that somehow it would all be a disaster. This is largely stemmed from the fact that I’ve only been to two baby showers myself, and both times – well, let’s just say that they weren’t exactly my favorite activities in the world.
So with that in mind, I took to the web with a vengeance, ferociously reading through anti-baby shower blog posts (of which there certainly wasn’t a shortage!).
All of my neurosis aside, I must admit that I had a fantastic time at the shower come June 15th, and truly enjoyed spending time with my girlfriends who were there – some of whom I haven’t caught up with in years! (I tell ya, there is nothing more soothing for the soul than surrounding yourself with true, genuine friendships). My mother and two of my girlfriends did an incredible job putting it all together (I was so touched), and I couldn’t have felt more fortunate to have such wonderful people in my life. Much like the cake my mother had ordered – the entire affair was simply delicious!
