On our first night in Lisbon, we were treated to a most wonderful gastronomic experience at the two Michelin rated Restaurante Eleven (conveniently located near our hotel, the Ritz Four Seasons!) on top of Eduardo VII park. It was quite the feat, and I absolutely adored both the ambience and the menu. We opted for the classic “Eleven Menu” tasting, with a delicious combo of quinoa salad with scallops and asparagus, lobster cream soup with mango, and Alentejano pork with chorizo and chutney (a twist on the traditional Portuguese Alentejano dish).
Everything about the experience was sheer delight – the well-executed concept, flavors, and presentation – all delectably capped off by our pretty tonka bean crème brulee dessert! Truly, I couldn’t have asked for a more awesome way to kick off our Lisbon experience. Of course, given all of the walking we did during the day at the fortress Castelo de Sao Jorge (not to mention we had just landed in the morning), compounded by the full-on dining extravaganza we enjoyed at Restaurante Eleven in the evening, it was no wonder that my girlfriend and I slept in the following day! Believe me when I say, it was worth every savory bite.
