Okay kiddos, like most people, I’m not impervious to the self-improvement pledges prone to the start of a new year. A spike in gym memberships here, some trial juice cleanses there, everywhere we turn, there’s something geared towards enhancing and creating that shiny, perfect “new you.”
I tend to shirk away from fad diets (or really diets in general), though I’d be remiss if I said that I didn’t care about eating healthy or staying in shape. That said, I am so excited about this new resto/café that popped up in my neighborhood recently (on the corner of Kenmare and Elizabeth), called the Butcher’s Daughter (brought to you by Heather Tierney, the brains behind Apotheke and Pulqueria). It serves up an all-veggie menu, replete with gourmet smoothies and freshly-squeezed juices. The open kitchen and airy space provides plenty of light… and it’s ideal for a lazy afternoon lunch. Hubby and I popped in the other day and I had the most divine avocado curry sandwich with a side of kale… definitely need to return! I just hope that these guys will stick around. Only time will tell!
