On the first real nice-day in New York since the storm, we decided to go for a stroll around the hood. What do I discover but a new mural painted on Houston and Bowery? Previously occupied by the likes of Aiko Nakagawa, Kenny Scharf, Os Gemeos (last featured here), and Keith Haring – this new mural is a creation by the twin bothers otherwise known as How and Nosm. Theirs is story and social commentary on politics, society, and spirituality. In addition, the new mural also acts as a tribute to our beloved city in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
Of course, in my burst of excitement, I begged a reluctant hubby to take some photographs in front of the mural. The result? Couldn’t be more fab if I dare say so myself! I just love how the edgy & street-wise art complements one of my favorite go-to weekend casual wear. I swear, when I’m not in the usual tailored business uniform, you can find me in this default look… aka leggings plus ankle boots. I find it the perfect style to adopt when you’re on-the-go and the need for versatility is first and foremost. Plus, I love my new lightweight army jacket à la Dolce Vita, it is the ultimate layering piece!!! (At least until the weather starts to get brutal again).
As for the finishing touch? I consider this piece an instant "chic-ifying" accessory… my new color-injecting Ted Baker silk scarf, an anniversary present from hubby, which also happens to pay tribute to the city’s skyline. I love that!
