Today marks day #4 without electricity in the world of downtown darkness, and incidentally… this little bird has decided to flee the coop to greener pastures out east. The novelty of using the gym showers is wearing thin. Plus, on the bright side, the LIRR will be operating free of charge today and tomorrow, just to help ease the fiscal burden! Unlike Uber, who has taken the liberty of raising its fares during this rather trying time in NYC.
But I digress.
In a sea of woes and disheartening grimness, it was a ray of bright and refreshing sunshine to hear from our newest Blogterview contributant – Ms. Jacinda, of Miss Fashionista J! I had the pleasure of meeting this fab and sassy chica at last Friday’s Photo Expo at the Javits Center (feels like a million moons ago!). Suffice to say, it was a pleasure making her acquaintance, and always a treat to get to know a fellow fashion blogger!
RockShic: Miss Fashionista J, how long have you been blogging?
Jacinda: I created this blog in 2010, though I've been actively blogging on a consistent basis for the past year.
RockShic: What inspired you to start your blog?
Jacinda: I created my blog as an outlet for myself while I was living back home in Houston. I was unemployed at the time and wanted something to occupy my time in a creative way.
RockShic: How would you describe the objective and purpose of your blog?
Jacinda: The purpose of my blog is to share with people all of the latest in both fashion and entertainment. I tend to write about my own first-hand experiences – from attending high-profile events to sharing with my readers my personal opinions on the products that I use.
RockShic: Who do you envision as the ideal audience for your blog?
Jacinda: Great question! Honestly, I haven't put much thought into that. Maybe I should! I’m pretty much open-minded about my prospective audience…. whoever you are. I am just appreciative of the fact that you took some time out of your busy day to visit my blog!!
RockShic: How would you describe your own style? Any favorite places to shop?
Jacinda: I would have to say that my style is very versatile. It really depends on my mood. As far as my favorite shopping spots, I am in LOVE with Zara and BCBG (especially when they have stuff on sale!). I absolutely adore their style but your girl is on a budget so if I see a hot piece discounted at a decent price, then I have to have it! Also, I like to shop at Arden B, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls.
RockShic: Can you describe some of your favorite wardrobe pieces this season? Any go-to transitional must-haves?
Jacinda: My favorite items this season are a couple of my BCBG textured pants that I wear the heck out of! I am definitely a pant-lover, though I get easily bored with just jeans. My go-to transition pieces would have to be these black skinnies I got for free at a GAP promotion event. I can dress these pants up or down from day to night. Plus, I like the fact that these pants are made out of stretchy durable material.
RockShic: Who (or what) are your fashion inspirations?
Jacinda: Great question! My inspirations are constantly changing, so it’s hard for me to pinpoint one thing or person. But I will say that living in New York has definitely inspired me to be more expressive and explorative in the way I dress!
RockShic: You’ve met so many famous celebrities that you've featured on your blog! Can you share a bit about your favorite moments?
Jacinda: You know, when I meet with these celebs, it’s normally just a quick “hi” so I’m not able to have any full-fledged conversations with any of them… and they tend to have so many people pulling them in different directions of course. That said, I think the first celeb I took a picture with was Common at a fashion show. I did everything in my power to compose myself, but of course everybody knew just how excited I was because I “cheesed” so hard in my photo… you can actually see my wisdom teeth! Lol.
RockShic Any favorite blogs you personally like to follow?
Jacinda: My favorite bloggers would have to be NecoleBitchie and The Young, Black, and Fabulous – as they tend to highlight some fun fashion... but also primarily blog about what's hot in the entertainment industry!
