Hubby and I are en route to Long Island to visit my parents for the weekend. The last time I’ve been out east was in Sag Harbor a coupe of weeks ago. Long viewed as a sleepy fishermen town, Sag Harbor has maintained its quiet charm, whilst promoting distinct local artists, fashion, and eatery (Donna Karen’s daughter recently opened up a lovely Italian restaurant called Tutto il Giorno, which is simply yum!).
My favorite moment of Sag Harbor comprised of a quiet stroll along the dock – where rows upon rows of beautiful boats rest. It reminded me of my dad, who paints tons of seascapes, and used to take my mother and I here when I was little. In fact, I still remember an art-show opening my dad had in one of the galleries here many years ago (I might have been in Middle School). The jolly owner was glowing and merrily eating his freshly-picked apple – we had just sold one of my father’s paintings, and everybody was rejoicing… those were simple, happy times!
