We decided to head to the Mediterranean Coast for the weekend, to explore a bit of the Catalonia outskirts. For the next few days, we’re shacked up at Tossa de Mar – a sleepy little fishing village by the sea. This is where Chagall vacationed back in the day and termed the environs his “blue paradise”… and I can certainly see why! You get an entirely different vibe here than in Barcelona – all the better for easing into chillax mode. Our terrace overlooks the Mediterranean Ocean… and I can ease into my flip flops and sundress, waking up to the sound of the crashing waves and the sight of crystalline waters and slender coves, bliss!
Meandering up and down the narrow medieval streets of the old town, you really get the sense that this charming village retains much of the charm and magic of the unspoiled Costa Brava!
As for lodgings, we’re staying at a wonderful place in the
center of the old town called Hotel Diana, built by the Modernist architect
Antoni Falguera. It’s truly a gem, with
the loveliest hospitality and incomparable waterfront views. Some of my favorite moments consist of sitting
in the courtyard, surrounded by lush gardens and palm trees, sipping an
espresso and reading the morning paper with hubby, figuring out where to go for
our next adventure...
