As part of our “lets explore our own neighborhood” campaign… hubs and I went and checked out the “Regarding Warhol” preview at the Met this weekend, which will officially kick off tomorrow and last until the end of the year (gasp!!! Are we really that close to the end of the year already?).
I’ve always had a love and hate relationship with Warhol, given that I myself am a daughter of a classically trained artist. However, I do love the “I shot Andy Warhol” film… and have opened my views about Warhol as of late, in particular to his influence on modern art and All-Things-Pop on a global scale. What I like the most about the exhibit was the amount of Warhols it presented (some impressive fourty-plus works!), along with sixty other artists who had been influenced by Andy in varying capacities, subtleties and shades. There was not a shortage of Jeff Koons, in addition to Murakami, Basquiat, Keith Haring, and Damien Hirst. Do check it out if you have the chance… there’s plenty of time still! His fifteen minutes will keep on ticking...
