Dress: Bailey 44 (I Love Paris) | Shoes: Bakers
I passed by this lady yesterday on my way out of Saks (in preparation for my impending trip to Brazil, Project-Bridesmaid-shopping is in fully swing!). The first thing I noticed was her shoes (it’s hard not to!), followed by an appreciation of how adorable the rest of her look was. It just goes to affirm my theory that you can style a look shoes first!
I like that she went with a mostly black motif (very New York) and let her footwear be the centerpiece. The playful, satin-lined Paris motif of her dress (which she cleverly wears as a skirt under a buttoned up cardigan) serves to balance and soften the edgy & somewhat dominatrix-inspired impact of her shoes.
The result is a surprising semblance of lady-like sweetness, paired with a girlish/impish grin. I think of this as “Eloise playing dress-up in mum’s shoes.”
