TGIF!!! As I let out a massive sigh of relief that it is Friday… I can't help but reminisce about our Berkshire getaway (which officially kicked off last Friday). I’ve already posted a few sketches on rustic escapes and memories of Tanglewood, but I thought I’d go ahead and share a few more photos from the endlessly dreamlike escape. Don't get me wrong, I love the gamine culture and state of mind that comprises NYC, but I am also quite keen on getaways out of Manhattan here and there!
Below are some photos taken mostly in a charming town called Lenox... where you’d find, among other things, a piece of literary history, as you trace the footsteps of the likes of Edith Wharton, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Herman Melville. A highlight was a visit to the home of Edith Wharton, where we sought a little oasis of culture and natural beauty, along with a cascade of scenic gardens – which the design-conscious writer architected herself. Strolling through the house felt like time traveling to the “Age of Innocence." Very special indeed!
All in all, there was just something very peaceful about the Berkshires, at once unceremonious and relaxing. Being there made it quite easy to live in the moment... rhapsodizing about rustic scenery whilst forgoing the mundane rigors of everyday life. Try it… we all need it every once in a while!
Happy Friday the 13th!!!
