After a formidably stressful week (make that a stressful two weeks!), hubby and I decided to escape to the Berkshires for the weekend just to recharge our batteries and be one with nature. I must admit, I never thought that I’d be the type of girl who would crave scenic vistas and bountiful greeneries (bouts of failed romances from a bygone past had somehow made me averse to all things “hiking”-related). That was, of course, until I’d met my now husband, and in the process also happened to mature quite a bit, only to realize that one can, indeed, be an avid admirer of nature – at peace in the open field – without relinquishing one’s title and firm grip as a city girl. Call me a late bloomer.
In any case, words cannot describe how therapeutic and lovely this neck of the woods is! Set in a rich tapestry of endless blue skies, magnificant rolling meadows, ethereal willow trees, and even the requisite duck pond here and there... all replete with that archetypal New England charm & beauty which serve as a reminder that you are somewhere decidedly remote from home. Somehow, it helps to create a fantastic imagery which channels a more carefree place and time!
The romanticism of the moment is what prompted me to choose my newly-bought lace white shorts, which I thought emanated both fantasy and fairy tale in its own right. The sharp coloring and linear lines of my cobalt silk shirt served as a nice juxtaposition to the rather girly bottoms. Of course, given my dual sensibilities, I still had to pack my Jimmy Choo stilettos (I couldn’t help it!!), which, of course… warranted some curious stares from our innkeeper. What can I say, there are certain visual gems a girl just can’t live without (plus, I threw in an extra pair of flats just in case…).
