A friend invited me to check out Dekalb Market in Downtown Brooklyn today. I’ve been spending more time in Brooklyn these days, and I must say – I kinda dig both the style and the vibe of good old Breukelen. It’s like boho chic with an edge, bathed in a kaleidoscope of colors.
Dekalb Market itself is a great concept, where boutiques (full of Etsy-style artists) sell their one-of-a kind, very special items inside of recycled shipping containers (the last time I saw this done was in Christchurch, New Zealand – post earthquake). In a city where people are constantly looking for something new, where else can you sip a beer, rock out to a live band, shop for some hand-made jewelry, and then pop over to an incubator farm… all in the name of sustainability! It’s kinda genius.

Making a dash for the homemade meatball stand, I bumped into this cutie who totally caught my eye. What attracted me to her look was its simplicity, and the touch of glamour she gave in the little details – the pretty pastel-colored nails (all the rage these days), coupled with the va-va-voom lipcolor and the delicate feminine tote This is in stark contrast to the rest of her wardrobe, which is both hip and down to earth... very Brooklyn, very "Urban Outfitters." Her words, not mine!
