Saw these girls on Spring street in SoHo, and it totally took me back to my girl-trip to Iceland two years ago. This is such a youthful and free look, with just a hint of androgyny which I love.
Of particular interest is the juxtaposition in construction – the distressed worn leather against plush glossy velour, the slick neutral jacket over the chunky boyfriend sweater. Together, the combinations come off as both unique and convincing for each subject. If this were the 60’s, these two beauties would definitely fit right in with Andy Warhol's coterie.
As I see them giggling and reminiscing (the girl in red is visiting her friend from Iceland), I couldn't help but be nostalgic about my own escapades. What I tend to find, when traveling with a girlfriend (sans husband), is that one female naturally assumes a more “male-orientated” role, and vice versa. Call it the laws of chick-physics! (Come to think of it, this may apply to a world beyond just travel).
Given this belief, I find the contrasting style & attitude showcased here particularly compelling... don't you?
